As the days get longer and the air gets warmer, it’s the perfect time to give your skincare routine a seasonal refresh. Just like your home benefits from a good spring cleaning, so does your skin. After months of cold, dry weather and heavy moisturizers, your complexion is ready for something lighter, brighter, and more breathable.
Here’s how to spring clean your skincare routine and give your skin the fresh start it deserves.

1. Out with the Old: Check Expiration Dates
Start by going through your products and checking for expiration dates. Skincare doesn’t last forever—especially products with active ingredients like vitamin C or retinol. If anything smells off, has changed in color or texture, or is past its shelf life, it’s time to toss it.
Pro tip: Use a permanent marker to write the “open date” on your products so you can track of when it was opened. Most products have a shelf life ~ 1 year open or 3 years unopened. It does matter how natural or how many preservatives are in the product to keep it fresh so read the label before you mark it.

2. Switch to Lightweight Moisturizers
Thick creams and balms are great for winter, but spring calls for lighter weight products. Your heavier winter products can be used in your PM routine. In higher humidity climates use lightweight, hydrating moisturizers that allow your skin to breathe in your AM routine. Look for gel or water-based formulas with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, squalane, or aloe vera. How light your AM products are will depend on age & how much oil your skin produces. In the 20’s and younger it’s all about controlling oil but at 30 your oil glands shrink you get drier every year.
Example AM Routine:
Cleanse with gel or cream cleanser to hydrate your skin
Apply Hylauronic Acid for water hydration and plumpness
Apply Vitamin C for extra protection from the sun ☀️
Apply Moisturizer – Gel (lightest weight) teens
Oil Free Moisturizer – 20’s
Medium weight Moisturizer – 30’s
Heavy Moisturizer – 40’s
PM Routine:
Cleanse with Foam or Gel Cleanser to remove oil from skin
Apply Hylauronic Acid for water hydration & plumpness
Apply Oil for essential fatty acids for extra hydration in the skin
Apply Gel base to Heavy moisturizer depending on Age & production of oil

3. Exfoliate for a Fresh Start
Winter can leave your skin looking dull and flaky. Gently exfoliate 1-2 times per week to remove dead skin cells and reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. Choose a mild physical exfoliation like a scrub for teens, chemical AHA exfoliant pads for 20’s that need to remove oil from skin and 30’s, 40’s plus use Vitamin A to exfoliate and speed up cell turnover to remove dead skin to reveal your gorgeous✨

4. Add an Antioxidant Serum
With more sun exposure in spring, it’s time to load up on antioxidants. A vitamin at night only because it’s sun sensitive and vitamin C serum during the day to provide extra 15 spf from the sun. These ingredients will help protect the skin against environmental damage, even out skin tone, and give your skin a healthy radiance.

5. Don’t Skip the SPF
Just because it’s not summer doesn’t mean you’re safe from the sun. UV rays can be just as strong in spring, especially if you’re spending more time outdoors. Make sunscreen a non-negotiable part of your morning routine—look for SPF 30 broad-spectrum which means it covers UVA – aging rays, UVC – cancer causing rays and UVB – burning ray, and reapply if you’re outside for extended periods. My favorite SPF’s include mineral blocks like zinc oxide & titanium dioxide that create a physical barrier; reflecting & scattering the sun’s rays ☀ Which means they don’t need to be reapplied unless you’re swimming or sweating.

6. Hydration, Inside and Out
Spring is a great time to refocus on hydration. Drink plenty of water and eat water-rich foods like watermelon , cucumbers, oranges , and leafy greens . On the outside, incorporate a hydrating essence spray for extra hydration that plumps up the skin and prep your skin for the rest of your routine.

7. Treat Yourself to a Facial
There’s no better way to reset your skin than with a professional facial tailored to spring skin concerns. Book a seasonal facial to deep-clean pores, calm inflammation, and revive your natural glow.
